Active Germany: The Ore Mountains, a region with tradition
For my first international destination this summer, I chose the Ore Mountains, a mountain range in Saxony, on the German-Czech border, surprisingly unpopular among tourists from Poland. The main cycling route through the Ore Mountains leads through the region's major attractions, including UNESCO-listed sites showcasing the mining heritage of Saxony and places associated with a centuries-old tradition of producing Christmas souvenirs and toys. The solid gravel surface of a large part of the route should particularly interest cyclists on the recently popular gravel bikes.
