Cycling in the mountains: the Lakes Route in the Swiss Alps
"Switzerland from a postcard" - this is how the official website describing Swiss cycling routes depicts the Lakes Route and its attractions. Indeed, it's a fitting summary for the over 500-kilometer journey that, besides ten stunning Swiss lakes, also visits the picturesque Werdenberg, beautiful Lucerne under the distinctive Mount Pilatus, the uniquely situated Iseltwald on Lake Brienz, the land of the famous Gruyère cheese, and the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards by Lake Geneva. In our rendition of the Lakes Route, Zurich and Lausanne were added as starting and ending points for our beautiful Swiss cycling adventure.
