Highlights included visits to Ķemeri and Slītere National Parks, where we enjoyed both relaxation and nature. The Jura Route is a challenging cycling trail in Switzerland's second mountain range after the Alps. Long, gentle stretches of the cycling route wind through the quiet Jura plateaus, interspersed with steep, multi-kilometer climbs up the main Jura ridge. Cycling adventures are enriched by Swiss traditions characteristic of the Jura region - cities like La Sentier and La Chaux-de-Fonds became hubs of Swiss watchmaking, while the Travers Valley is where absinthe, the spirit whose production was banned for nearly a century, was first created. A major highlight of cycling the Jura Route is the tranquil, idyllic mountain scenery it traverses.

Despite the varied road surfaces, comfort and safety remained a priority, and, most importantly, the routes allowed for side-by-side cycling. Meanwhile, from Muszyna to Nowy Sącz, the route is part of the nearly 60-kilometer-long segment of the European EuroVelo 11 cycling route. Ore Mountains Cycle Route - Saxony, Germany

Describing the Sächsische Mittelgebirge cycling route I followed through the Ore Mountains, I must warn you that it’s quite a demanding trail. Over more than 200 kilometers, there are virtually no flat sections – you’re either climbing uphill or descending, over and over again. Fortunately, the intensity and length of the ascents were within my personal comfort zone for enjoyable riding, although I’d rate my fitness level in Saxony as only “average plus.” Most climbs have gradients of around 5-7%, though occasionally (thankfully rarely), there are steeper stretches of 10-12%, like the one right at the start from the Elbe Valley. I also think the route I chose, heading southwest, might be the easier option overall.
