Tracing the Hohenzollerns through Franconia: A historic cycling route
Burchard von Zollern, the earliest known ancestor of the Hohenzollern family, could not have imagined that he would be the progenitor of one of the most important dynasties in European history. Nor could he have foreseen that one day, Polish cycling tourists would be following in their footsteps. On the Hohenzollern Experience Cycling Route (Erlebnisradweg Hohenzollern) in Franconia, we spent one of four short routes that made up our cycling holiday this year. Over two days, we followed the white-and-black signs of this nearly 100-kilometer historic cycling route between Ansbach and Nuremberg in Germany.
